Eugenia Man Photography | Happy Thanksgiving; Decorating my laptop with GelaSkins!

27 Nov

Hello! I just wanted to jump on here to say Happy Thanksgiving – even though the holiday weekend is ending as I type this, I hope your holiday weekend was filled with love and happiness!

I don’t think I’ve EVER appreciated how Thanksgiving lands on a Thursday until this year. I was able to spend the whole entire vacation with family AND friends. It was a Thanksgiving for the books – I spent every waking moment with people I love.

I also wanted to share something with you this post. I’ve been admiring a little company GelaSkins (based in Toronto). They make skins for phones, laptops, tablets, and even gaming devices! Ever since I’ve gotten my new laptop, I’ve been itching to personalize it. My friend linked me to GelaSkins and I fell in love with it right off the bat. To my excitement, GelaSkins is having a 20% discount RIGHT NOW (hurry! The sale is ending in 24 hours!)

I just bought Van Gogh’s ‘Almond Branches in Bloom’ and I’m SO EXCITED to put it on my laptop! Check them out (I swear I’m not sponsored by them) – I promise you’ll find something you love! Best of all, if you’re the creative type, you can CUSTOMIZE your own skins!

I’ll post a photo of my laptop (before and after) as soon as I get my GelaSkin in the mail. I promise!

On that note, I know I’ve been slacking on this blog, but I’ll be posting more on here in the near future. There’s so much to post!

Happy Thanksgiving!
With love,
–Eugenia

Eugenia Man Photography | Photographer turned Seamstress pt.2 | Sewing bunnies to mend hearts

23 Aug

Upon scheduling a delivery session with one of my clients, I learned about a little one recovering from heart surgery! My heart immediately broke – was she OK? What did she need surgery for? How long will recovery take?
Mom emailed back, reassuring me the surgery went well and her daughter is doing well (“Her heart is stronger because of it and you’d never know she just had surgery.”)

Sighing a breath of relief, I thought of gifts I could give her.

…and then it hit me! Make a little bunny! (if you refer to this post, you might be surprised that I can sew!) I found some scrap red cloth (once upon a time, that was her favorite color) and got to cutting, stitching, and sewing. A couple hours later, voila! a bunny!

Take special notes of two things:
1) the carefully stitched heart (representing her newly mended heart) and
2) the eyelashes (cause this little girl has the longest lashes I’ve ever laid eyes on!)

When I showed up at their house, I’ll tell you, this little girl screamed with glee! She was giggling and burying her face behind her hands cause she suddenly got shy… but nonetheless laughing joyfully!
Mom was right! I would have never known she had surgery!

Excitement hit her again and again as I handed her get-well gift after get-well gift. She giggled as I showed her the card with a band-aid over a paper cut out heart and again as I showed her the bunny. She didn’t stop giggling!

This was probably the best delivery session I’ve had in a while. Mom and I were talking for about an hour – over freshly made popsicles, giggles, and Boots.
